BACKGROUND
In the spring of 2010, staff submitted an application for an Energy Efficient Community Block
Grant ( EECBG) to the State of the Minnesota's Office of Energy and Security. The grant was
requesting funds to replace the aging boilers at the Steeple Center. The boiler project was
estimated to cost $68,000. The City proposed using $20,000 of City funds ($10,000 from the
Steeple Center operating maintenance budget and $10,000 from the Building CIP fund) as a
funding match for the grant project. The remaining $48,000 for the project would come from the
EECBG program. The City was successful in getting the $48,000 grant from the State.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending the City Council receive the bids for the Steeple Center Boiler Replacement Project,
accept the low bid submitted by Alber's Mechanical, and authorize the City to enter into a contract with
the low bidder.
