APPROVED BY:
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Authorize Payment for Impacts to Crop Areas along
Akron Avenue as Recommended within the Executive Summary.
BACKGROUND:
As part of the acquisition of easements for the Akron Trunk Utility and Railroad Improvements, City
Project # 417, specific areas currently being farmed on the adjacent properties along Akron Avenue and
identified as both permanent and temporary construction easements will be impacted by construction
activities. To compensate for the temporary loss of farmable areas encompassed by the easement areas,
payment to the property owners leasing the farmable land is proposed consistent with past practices for
similar city projects in agricultural areas.
Attached are exhibits showing the location of the impacted crops along Akron Avenue on property
identified as Parcel 4. Staff has negotiated with members of the McMenomy family, owners of Parcel 4, a
total crop impact compensation in the amount of $11,766.53. A breakdown of the compensation
calculation for the parcel is included on the attached table.
SUMMARY:
Staff is recommending that Council authorize the payment for crop impact compensation as proposed in
the attached table pending receipt of appropriate documentation.
