DBA FiresideROSEMOLINT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY CITY COUNCIL City Council Regular Meeting: March 2, 2010 AGENDA ITEM: Application for On -Sale Liquor License Class B and Sunday Liquor License, AGENDA SECTION: Thompsons Fireside Pizza II, Inc. DBA Public Hearing Fireside PREPARED BY: Amy Domeier, City Clerk AGENDA NO. ATTACHMENTS: None. APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the On -Sale Liquor License Class B, Sunday Liquor for Thompsons Fireside Pizza II, Inc. DBA Fireside located at 3410 150" Street West subject to obtaining a Certificate of Occupancy from the Chief Building Official for the construction of the restaurant. ISSUE The liquor license application has been made by Thompsons Fireside Pizza II, Inc. who will be the operators of Fireside located at 3410 15& Street West. Fireside will be located in the Rosemount Market Square Mall. The application was accompanied by the necessary liquor liability insurance, workers compensation insurance, lease agreement with Rosemount Properties, LLC and investigation fees. The Police Department conducted a background check of the applicants and investigated their other business held in Minnesota. There were no violations of liquor laws found to have occurred at other licensed establishment owned by the applicants. The applicant owns and operates a Fireside Pizza in the City of Richfield and has owned that business for approximately 15 years. In addition to having no liquor law violations at that location there have not been any police calls for service issues either. It should be noted however, that the Richfield location only holds a 3.2 malt liquor and wine license while the Rosemount location will hold a full on -sale license and a bar area is included in the business. Based upon information learned in the background investigation, staff does not believe the license should be denied. Building Department staff is waiting on the architect to provide some additional revisions to plans. At this time, no building permit has been issued for the interior remodel. A demolition has been applied for and issued. The liquor license will not be issued until the applicants receive a Certificate of Occupancy for the restaurant from the Chief Building Official. Kadie Johnson will serve as the General Manager for Fireside. She has prior experience managing restaurants with liquor licenses. Ms. Johnson and other representatives from Fireside will be in attendance at the meeting to provide more information about the bar, restaurant and plans for day -to -day operations. SUMMARY Staff recommends approval of the above - stated motion.
