SUMMARY
John Zweber, from the Dakota County Master Gardeners, is leading an effort to educate children on the
benefits of gardening. John recently assisted youth living near the Family Resource Center in building six
raised garden boxes. The vegetables grown in the gardens will be made available to people using the food
shelf and to people living in the neighborhood near the Center.
John and other local master gardeners will also be teaching classes to children at the Family Resource
Center on the topics of gardening basics, healthy eating and nutrition. The classes are slated to start on
June 15.
Mr. Zweber will be at the meeting to share more information about the raised garden box project.
