RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Bids and Awarding
the Contract for the Glendalough 3rd Addition Street and Utility Improvements, City Project
#430.
ISSUE:
Receive bids and award contract for the Glendalough 3rd Addition Street and Utility Improvements, City
Project #430.
BACKGROUND:
On Friday, August 27, 2010, bids for this project were received and read aloud publicly. After verification
of bids received, the low bidder is Ryan Contracting Company in the amount of $330,907. All costs
associated with this project will be funded by the developer, Lennar.
The Glendalough 3rd Addition is comprised of 29 single - family residential units. The proposed
improvements include the construction of city streets that include concrete curb and gutter and 5 -foot
concrete sidewalks. Utility improvements on Coachford Avenue south of 134`h Street include the
construction of water main, sanitary sewer, and storm sewer. Utility improvements along 134`h Street, and
on Coachford Avenue north of 134d' Street, include only the construction of lateral storm sewer, as the
majority of public utility improvements in the area were previously installed with the Glendalough 7d'
Addition, City Project 401, in 2006.
It is anticipated that the public improvements for the Glendalough 3rd Addition will be started
and fully completed, including all restoration items (except the bituminous wear course) by the end of the
2010 construction season.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract
for the Glendalough 3`d Street and Utility Improvements, City Project #430.

RESOLUTION 2010 —
A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR THE GLENDALOUGH 3RD
STREET AND UTILITY IMPROVEMENTS
CITY PROJECT #430
WHEREAS, the City Council authorized the City Engineer to advertise for bids.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
All bids on construction of Glendalough 3rd Street and Utility Improvements have been received and
tabulated.
The bid of Ryan Contracting Company from Elko, Minnesota, in the amount of $330,907.00
for the construction of said improvements is in accordance with the plans and specifications
and advertisement for bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is
accepted.
2. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said
bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of
Rosemount.
3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the
deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next
two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.

Bids were received for the above - referenced project on Tuesday, August 27, 2010, and were opened and
read aloud. A total of eight bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and
tabulated. The Engineer's Estimate was $414,134.00. Please find enclosed the bid tabulation indicating
the low bidder as Ryan Contracting Company, Elko, Minnesota, in the amount of $330,907.00.
We recommend that the City Council consider these bids and award a contract to Ryan Contracting
Company, based on the results of the bids received.
