of Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee.
BACKGROUND
Over the past two years, community efforts have been underway to support our military residents and
their families before, during and after deployment missions. A major kickoff event was held at the
Rosemount United Methodist Church in late 2008. Several community support activities have been held
since then, such as a holiday party last Christmas and the return home of the Red Bull division earlier this
year. In recent months, a group of residents along with representatives from business and community
groups have been meeting and have decided to create a formal group and seek a 501 c3 designation from
the IRS. The new organization will also seek official state designation as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon
community.
DISCUSSION
One of the Council's goals for 2010 is to foster partnerships with various entities including civic
organizations. As a new civic organization dedicated to helping our troops and their families, the group
would benefit from City co- sponsorship of its activities. It would allow the City to use its newsletters, web
site other media to help advertise Beyond the Yellow Ribbon events and also allow use of City facilities for
certain events such as a planned 2010 holiday party at the Community Center.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Council approve the resolution providing for City co- sponsorship of Beyond
the Yellow Ribbon events and activities.

RESOLUTION 2010 -
A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CO- SPONSORSHIP
OF BEYOND THE YELLOW RIBBON COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, a group of Rosemount residents and business leaders has formed a Beyond the
Yellow Ribbon Committee to provide support to our local military service members and their
families;
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount has been actively involved with the Beyond the Yellow
Ribbon Committee in Rosemount; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount supports the sponsorship of events being planned by the
Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee on behalf of our military families.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Rosemount hereby
establishes this resolution to co- sponsor Beyond the Yellow Ribbon events coordinated and held by
the Rosemount Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee.
ADOPTED this 21st day of September, 2010 by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
