BACKGROUND:
Staff has started the process of purchasing equipment for the Steeple Center. Some of the items being
purchased include janitorial equipment, a projector screen, LCD projector, podium, TV and stand, etc.
We also need to purchase tables and chairs for the Center. There are not many options for the style of
tables we typically purchase for our recreation facilities. Our past purchases have been through the Mity
Lite Company. The tables they sell are very durable and lightweight. We currently use their product at the
Community Center and at the enclosed shelters at Central and Jaycee Parks.
With regards to purchasing new chairs for the Steeple Center, there are many varieties to choose from.
Some of the features that staff feels are important when it comes to the chairs are comfort, durability, ease
of maintenance and the ability to stack the chairs in large quantities. Included in the packet is a spreadsheet
that compares a number chairs with various features. The chairs range in price from $54 to $185 each.
Staff is recommending the City Council consider purchasing 220 Sonic Poly Sled chairs (fabric seat and
plastic back) at a cost of $105.85 each. The total cost would be approximately $23,287.
SUMMARY:
Staff would like for the Council to review the information included in the packet regarding the purchase of
chairs for the Steeple Center and provide direction to staff.
