BACKGROUND: On Thursday, September 3, 2009, bids for this project were received and read aloud publicly. The Evermoor development consists of 188 single family residential units located on 97.45 acres located along the north side of Connemara Trail and west of Dodd Boulevard. The Evermoor of Glendalough 5 10t Additions are generally located in the eastern end of the Evermoor tract and these additions represent the last remaining areas in the Evermoor project. The 2009 Glendalough Addition and Glendalough 2' Addition is the next phase of the development to be completed, and is comprised of 23 single family residential units. This project has been designated as City Project No. 427. The proposed improvements include the construction of city streets that include concrete curb and gutter and 5 -foot concrete sidewalks. Utility improvements include the construction of storm sewer, as the majority of public utility rovements in the area to be platted were previously installed with the Evermoor's Glendalough Addition, City Project 401, in 2006.. After verification of bids received, the low bidder is McNamara Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $235,923.75. All costs associated with this project will be funded by the developer, Lennar. SUMMARY: Staff recommends that Council adopt the attached resolution receiving the bids and awarding the contract for the Glendalough Glendalough r Street and Utility Improvements, City Project 427. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows: All bids on construction of Glendalough and Glendalough 2n Street and Utility Improvements have been received and tabulated. 1. The bid of McNamara Contracting, Inc., Rosemount, Minnesota in the amount of $235,923.75 for the construction of said improvements is in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for bids, and is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted. 2. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Rosemount. 3. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of the successful bidder and the next two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed. A total of four bids were received. The bids were checked for mathematical accuracy and tabulated. The Engineer's Estimate was $223,595.50. Please find enclosed the bid tabulation indicating the low bidder as McNamara Contracting, Inc., Rosemount, Minnesota, in the amount of $235,923.75.
