EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
BACKGROUND
Mr. Bill Coleman of Dakota Futures has asked to address the City Council for a few minutes to provide an
update on the Intelligent Community Initiative. Earlier this year, the Council agreed to provide $500 in
matching funds for this program. Mr. Coleman reports that the launch of the Intelligent Community
program is planned for October 9`". Dakota Futures is a predominately private organization established
to promote economic development in Dakota County. The Intelligent Community Initiative seeks to
benchmark participating communities in key economic development categories on a global basis so that
we can better evaluate our competitive position.
