EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
On Tuesday, September 8, 2009, students, faculty, staff and community members will come together on
the main campus of Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount to dedicate the new Ames Soccer
Complex, which was built through a partnership between the college and the City of Rosemount, with in-
kind services from Ames Construction.
The schedule of events for Tuesday, September 8 will include:

Ames Soccer Complex Dedication Ceremony
Free hot dog meal sponsored by the Blue Knights Athletic Council

Blue Knights Youth Soccer clinic (all ages)
Athletic and recreational activities are designed to enhance the quality of life in our community. The new
Ames Soccer Complex will serve as a recreational facility for competition, practice, and other leisure
activities through its programming with Dakota County Technical College and the City of Rosemount.
SUMMARY
Staff is recommending the City Council approve the attached proclamation naming September 8, 2009 as
Blue Knights Day in Rosemount.

On Tuesday, September 8, 2009, students, faculty, staff and community members will come
together on the main campus of Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount, Minn., to
dedicate the new Ames Soccer Complex, which was built through a partnership between the
college and the City of Rosemount with in -kind service from Ames Construction.
WHEREAS, athletic and recreational activities are designed to enhance the quality of life of
every member of our society, the new Ames Soccer Complex will serve as a recreational facility
for competition, practice, reflection, and other leisure activities through its programming with
Dakota County Technical College and the City of Rosemount;
WHEREAS, the collaborative spirit that provided an opportunity for Dakota County Technical
College, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system, the City of Rosemount, and
Ames Construction to construct a high quality public recreation facility will be carried on through
the spirit of teamwork in athletes of all levels from across the country;
WHEREAS, recreational facilities provide an opportunity for teamwork, partnerships, and a
sense of community that is attractive to both current and new residents, visitors, and students;
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount Parks and Recreation Department and Dakota County
Technical College's Blue Knights Athletic department, as well as their competitors from across
the nation and the world, produce talented young athletes that use recreational facilities such as
the Ames Soccer Complex to shape their athletic abilities and engage in athletic competition;
WHEREAS, during the eighth day of September we take time to celebrate the partnerships that
provided the new, three -field soccer complex and recreational facility now housed on Dakota
County Technical College's campus in Rosemount, Minn., which will be enjoyed by the
community and the college for decades to come;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minn., proclaim that
Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, is
BLUE KNIGHTS DAY
in Rosemount, Minn.
