City Council Special Work Session: April 15, 2009
BACKGROUND:
Late last summer, Council briefly discussed the condition of the existing landscaping located on the east
side of City Hall between the upper level entrance and employee entrance. Based on these discussions and
Council direction, Staff has 1) removed dead and /or deteriorated landscaping between the upper level
parking lot and employee parking lot; and 2) prepared a proposed landscaping plan for the area.
Attached for Council review and consideration is a proposed landscaping plan along with plant species
specifications. Based on the proposed landscaping plan, six (6) existing trees are proposed to remain and
the following quantities of plants are proposed to be installed as shown.
Potentilla, Mango Tango 3 each
Viburnum, Dwarf European 6 each
Euonymus, Fire Ball 12 each
Lilac, Miss Kim 6 each
The landscape area will include mulch.
The estimated cost for materials to complete this work is $2,000.00. The cost associated with this work is
proposed to be funded by the SKB Landscaping Fund. All work associated with the re- landscaping of this
area is proposed to be completed by City Staff this spring.

As the planting season is near, Staff would like to review this proposal plan with Council and is seeking
any comments and feedback to incorporate into a final plan.
