EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
SUMMARY
The Dakota County MADD awards ceremony held in January recognized law enforcement officers and
cities across Dakota County. The Rosemount Police Department and the City of Rosemount received
three awards at the event.
Dakota County MADD has been a very active local advocacy organization supporting our efforts to
eliminate drinking and driving and decrease underage alcohol use. This year, Officer Mike Dahlstrom was
honored for his department leading number of DWI arrests. Retired Sergeant Jim O'Leary was also
recognized for his efforts in coordinating the Dakota County Traffic Safety Project over the past two
years.
In December, 2008 the Rosemount City Council approved a Social Host ordinance. This ordinance made
it a criminal offense for a person to knowingly host a gathering or event where underage people were
consuming alcoholic beverages. Since the passage of the Social Host ordinance, 2 individuals have been
charge with violation•of this ordinance Jo Baker, the Dakota County MADD representative, will be in
attendance to present the City Council with. a Law Enforcement Recognition award for the City's effort in
curtailing underage drinking in Rosemount.
