EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
Jeff Wendel, the Fire Secretary and a member of the Fire Department, has submitted his resignation
effective April 25, 2009. He has been a firefighter since 1997 and the Fire Secretary since 2002.
The Fire Department Personnel Policy requires the appointment or re- appointment of a Fire Secretary
every three years. Jeff Wendel was reappointed to this position last year at the March 18, 2008 City
Council meeting. At this time, Mr. Wendel is unable to complete his term and is resigning effective
April 25, 2009.
We are now looking for someone to fulfill the remaining two years of his term. The position opening
has been posted at both of the Fire Stations and applications are being solicited from Fire Department
personnel. The City Council will be asked to appoint the final candidate at an upcoming City Council
meeting.
SUMMARY
Staff recommends acceptance of Jeff Wendel's resignation from the Rosemount Fire Department.

Due to my reoccurring medical issues, my Doctor has advised me to
discontinue being a fire fighter. T will be stepping down as of April 25
2009.
