Secretary

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
This is a recommendation to appoint Bruce Sword to the position of Fire Secretary to fulfill the
remaining two years of a three year term. Jeff Wendel had served in this position since last March but
was unable to complete his term and Council accepted his resignation at the last council meeting.
In this application process, Mr. Sword was the only interested candidate. He has been a firefighter on
our department for six years. He currently manages the SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus)
and is a trustee for the Relief Association. Mr. Sword has extensive experience with personal
computers and software. He is well qualified to fill the position and it is thereby recommended that his
assignment to the position of Fire Secretary be confirmed by Council.
SUMMARY
The Fire Chief and City Administrator recommend approval of the appointment of Bruce Sword as
Fire Secretary.
