ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: RECOMMENDED ACTION: Award commendations 4 ROSEMOUNT CITY COUNCIL City Council Regular Meeting: May 5, 2009 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Rosemount High School's boys swimming and diving team achieved great success during its competition during the winter. The team won all ten of its meets this season against individual schools. The Irish swimmers won the Lake Conference championship, won the sectional tournament in 3AA, and placed third in the state True Team tournament. In the state tournament in early March at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, several Rosemount swimmers brought home championship honors. In the 200 -yard medley relay, Rosemount's team both won the championship and set a record time for the state tournament. Swimming the relay were Devon Meeks, Tony Spiel, David Stern, and Max Hubbard. In the 200 -yard freestyle relay, Rosemount's squad also won a championship, with the team Devon Meeks, Max Hubbard, David Stem, and Tristan Boyd. And in individual competition, Devon Meeks won the championship for 50 -yard freestyle. Overall, Rosemount placed fourth in the state tournament. The five swimmers who achieved championships are All -State and Automatic All- American. Their head coach is Jim Ertl, assisted by Patti Wegner, Charlie Burnham, and Tami Carlson. The Council congratulates these champions and their coaches for the high accomplishment and the honor that the community can share with them.
