City Council Special Workshop Meeting December 21, 2009
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
BACKGROUND
The City Council has met to establish goals for the City early in each calendar year. Mayor Droste has
suggested that we consider a Friday night /Saturday morning combination sometime in January, if possible.
The Council should consider what date(s) may be open and available for all members.
DISCUSSION
The calendar for January, 2010 shows five weekends. However, the first Friday of January is New Year's
Day. Also, I have airlines ticket to travel out of town on the second weekend of January, leaving early
Saturday morning. Council members should remember that the third weekend is the beginning of the
three -day Martin Luther King holiday weekend in case anyone has travel plans for then. We do not know
of any complications with the last two Friday /Saturday combinations in January (January 22 -23 or January
29 -30).
Also, staff has been requested to attend in some, but not all past years. Last year, staff (other than myself)
was not requested to attend. It would be good to give staff as much notice as possible if you wish some or
all of them to attend either session.
Finally, if you have any thoughts about meeting somewhere other than City Hall, it would be good to
know that also so we can see if desired alternative locations are available.
