ATTACHMENTS: Draft Resolution APPROVED BY: OM RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the attached Resolution Appointing Election Judges for the November 4, 2008 General Election. 9 ROSEMOUNT CITY COUNCIL City Council Regular Meeting: October 7, 2008 ISSUE At the August 4, 2008 City Council meeting over 100 Rosemount and /or Dakota County residents were appointed to serve as election judges for the 2008 Primary Election. Since that appointment, staff recruited additional election judges to serve at the November 4, 2008 General Election. Due to the anticipated increase in the number of registered voters, it is necessary to raise the number of election judges working in the growing precincts. Per State Statute, all election judges scheduled to work the General Election must be appointed by October 10, 2008. CONCLUSION Staff recommends approval of the above referenced motion. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2008 RESOLUTION APPOINTING ELECTION JUDGES FOR THE NOVEMBER 4, 2008 GENERAL ELECTION WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 204B.21 of the Minnesota Election Laws, election judges shall be appointed by the governing body of the municipality; and WHEREAS, the appointments shall be made at least 25 days before the election at which the election judges will serve. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rosemount that the individuals listed below are appointed to serve as election judges for the November 4, 2008 General Election at the hourly rate of $8.25 for election judges and $9.00 for head judges.
