City Council Special Meeting: August 4, 2008
SUMMARY
Election Judges on an Absentee Ballot Board are authorized to receive, examine, validate, and count
absentee ballots. Two judges of opposing political parties work together on the preliminary accepting and
rejecting of absentee ballots. With the expected high voter turnout this fall, it is anticipated that a large
number of voters will vote by absentee ballot. Therefore, staff would recommend having the board
established to begin the preliminary accepting and rejecting of absentee ballots prior to Election Day.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the attached Resolution.
