Commendations for Attainment of Eagle Scout Rank 4 ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY CITY COUNCIL City Council Regular Meeting: March 18, 2008 AGENDA ITEM: Commendations for attainment of Eagle AGENDA SECTION: Scout rank Department Head Reports PREPARED BY: William H. Droste, Mayor AGENDA NO. 5 a ATTACHMENTS: APPROVED BY: OF RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation of certificates of commendation Each year, a select group of youths in Rosemount accomplish the skills and tasks required to become Eagle Scouts. The Eagle Scout rank is the highest advancement rank for Boy Scouts, and to achieve it a Scout must fulfill requirements in the areas of leadership, service, and outdoor skills. The Boy Scouts of America National Council says only four percent of the membership achieves this high goal. Tonight the City Council continues its tradition of honoring these accomplishments by commending two Scouts from Troop 207 of Rosemount who have recently achieved the Eagle rank. Greg Mason is a junior at Rosemount High School. Last year Greg completed a construction for a storage shed at Rosemount High School. The shed will hold football and soccer equipment. Greg plans to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Matt Udermann is a junior at Rosemount High School. Last year Matt completed a project that benefitted the group, "Catholics in the Military." Matt made 250 rosaries for distribution to our troops. Matt plans to pursue a ROTC program and a career in geological studies. The Council commends these Scouts for their work, and it thanks the adults who work with these young people, including Scoutmaster Bill Kilter, Assistant Scoutmaster T.J. Rome, and Tom Hannasch who helped facilitate this commendation. The Council anticipates that other Eagle Scouts will attend the next regular meeting.
