Jason Messner for a 3 -year term on the Planning Commission; 2. Jeanne Schwartz for a 3 -year term on the Planning Commission; 3. Mary Riley for a 6 -year resident term on the Port Authority; 4. Don Harmsen for a 3 -year term on the Utilities Commission; 5. Kevin Strayton for a 3 -year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission; and 6. Maureen Bartz for a 3 -year term on the Parks and Recreation Commission. BACKGROUND The Commission vacancies for 2008 include two 3 -year terms on the Planning Commission; one 3 -year term on the Utilities Commission; two 3 -year terms on the Parks and Recreation Commission; and one 6- year resident term on the Port Authority. ISSUE The City Council received applications from residents willing to serve as members on City advisory commissions including the Planning, Parks Recreation and Utility Commissions. Applications for the open Commissions were available on -line or by contacting the City Clerk. The City Clerk received 14 applications. Upon consideration of the open terms and interested members, the City Council has decided to reappoint all commissioners with ending terms to the commissions on which they currently serve. The City Council conducted interviews for those interested in serving on the Utilities Commission on March 3, 2008. They were pleased with the caliber of talent that expressed interest in serving on the advisory board. SUMMARY Staff recommends approval of the above stated motion.
