RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Receiving Plans and
Specifications and Authorizing Advertisement for Bids for the 2008 Street Improvement
Project, City Project #418.
BACKGROUND:
On January 15, 2008 the Rosemount City Council authorized the preparation of plans and specifications
for the 2008 Street Improvement Project. This project has been designated as City Project #418. At this
time, the plans and specifications are complete and copies are on file in the Engineering Department. A
brief review of the proposed improvements follows:
1. LOCATION
The 2008 Street Improvement Program Project includes surface improvements to approximately
6300 feet (1.2 miles) of 32 -foot wide urban streets including the following:
Claret Avenue (between 155 Street West and Cornell Trail West)
Cornell Trail (between Claret Avenue and east end)
156 Street West (between Claret Avenue and Chippendale Avenue)
Cicerone Path (from Cornell Trail West southwest approximately 720 feet)
2. PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS
Surface improvements to the above streets include pavement rehabilitation, installation of sidewalk
and pedestrian ramps, and replacement or adjustment of utility castings. Improvements proposed
to be completed as part of the pavement rehabilitation include bituminous pavement removal, spot
replacement of the surmountable curb and gutter, and installation of B618 curb and gutter at
intersection radii. Additional items included include the installation of 12 inches of select granular,
6 inches of class V aggregate base, and 4 inches of bituminous pavement.
SUMMARY:
Staff recommends Council receive the plans and specifications and authorize the advertising for bids for
the 2008 Street Improvement Project, City Project #418.

A RESOLUTION RECEIVING THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS
AND AUTHORIZING ADVERTISEMENT OF BIDS FOR
2008 STREET IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
CITY PROJECT #418
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount have ordered the preparation of plans and
specifications for the 2008 Street Improvements Project, City Project #418 and such plans and specifications
have been presented to this Council for approval:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota:
1. Such plans and specifications are hereby approved and ordered placed on file in the office of the City
Clerk.
2. The City Clerk shall prepare and cause to be inserted in the official City newspaper and the Construction
Bulletin an advertisement for bids upon the making of such improvements under such approved plans
and specifications for City Project #418.
3. The advertisement shall be published in each of said publications at least once not less than three (3)
weeks before the date set for opening bids, shall specify the work to be done, shall state the bids will be
publicly opened on April 25, 2008 at 10:00 o'clock a.m. at the Rosemount City Hall in said City and that
no bids will be considered unless sealed and filed with the City Clerk and accompanied by a cash
deposit, cashier's check, bid bond or certified check payable to the City Clerk for five (5 percent of
the amount of such bid.
