RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Approve the Labor Agreement for the Te sters,
Local No. 320 Collective Bargaining Unit for the Years 2008 through 2009 and t Authorize
the Necessary Signatures.
ISSUE
The City of Rosemount and Teamsters, Local No. 320 (Public Works) have negotiated in good -faith and
have come to a tentative agreement.
BACKGROUND
Negotiations with the Teamsters union have been completed for a 2008 through 2009 contract. The
Collective Bargaining Unit and City have reached a tentative agreement on the following items:
1. Article 13.5, Work Schedules
Add the following article:
13.5 Only during a downtown snow removal event shall the following occur: Employees shall
receive overtime at time and one half (1 1/2 X) paid for all hours worked until the start of
their normal scheduled shift. Employees will have to be compensated using one of three
'(3) ways to complete the hours of their regular scheduled shift at their regular rate of pay:
working, using vacation hours or using banked comp time to complete that day with
supervisor approval.
2. Article 19, Holidays
Add Christmas Eve and New Years Day to Article 19.4.
3. Article 29, Group Insurance Benefits
Add the following article:
29.3 The EMPLOYER will increase the City VEBA contribution by $50.00 in 2009 if the health
insurance deductible increases.
4. Article 34, Clothing Allowance
Increase the uniform allowance in 2008 to $420 and in 2009 to $430. Increase boot allowance from
$50 to $75 per year.
5. Article 39, Duration
Two year contract: 2008 2009 contract.
6. Appendix A Wages
2008: Mechanics: 2% on January 1, 2% on July 1
Maintenance: 3% on January 1
2009: Mechanics: 2% on January 1, 2% on July 1
Maintenance: 3% on January 1
SUMMARY
On January 15 the Teamsters members voted and approved these contract changes. The changes that
have been made to the contract are comparable with other "Stanton 6" communities. Therefore, it is
requested that Council approve the labor agreement for the Teamsters, Local 320 Collective Bargaining
Unit for the years 2008 through 2009 and to authorize the necessary signatures.
