RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the recruitment and hiring of a lice officer'
as approved in the 2008 Operating Budget.
Summary
In the 2008 Operating Budget an additional police officer position was approved. Staff is requesting that
Council authorize the recruitment for this position. If the position is advertised now and the selection
process begun, it is estimated that the actual appointment date will be June 1 or later. The position is
funded for 12 months in the 2008 budget.
The selection process will include the completion of the City application and supplemental materials,
which will then be used for initial screening of the applicants. Selected candidates will then be further
screened through two interviews. Finalists will be determined and thorough background investigations
completed on the selected candidates. A final decision and job offer will then be made. Once a job offer
is accepted, the candidate will be required to complete a medical and psychological examination.
