More than 200,000 students around the world take part in a program called "Destination ImagiNation."
This year, two teams from schools that serve Rosemount were among the top achievers in Minnesota and
competed in the global competition. In May, we welcomed a team from Rosemount Middle School.
Tonight we are honored to host a group from Red Pine Elementary. The "Crazy Cows" from Red Pine
tied for third in their section of the state competition, which qualified them to advance to the globals that
were held last month at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
In DI, participants work as a team for eight to 12 weeks to create a unique solution to a Team Challenge,
which can have a focus that is theatrical, structural, improvisational, scientific, or technical or a blend of
several disciplines. Teams also learn and practice creative quick thinking skills for the "Instant Challenge"
portion of the program. Destination ImagiNation is intended to help young people learn in a fun and
supportive environment, and the valuable skills they acquire will be with them for a lifetime.
The members of the "Crazy Cows" team are:
Geordie Tangen
Carly Laliberte
Sam Haisting
Abby Nelson and
Elizabeth Vitullo
The team is coached by Scott Haisting and Bernadette Vitullo.
Students on the team live in the attendance area of Rosemount Middle School, and will have a chance to
join the tradition there, in which three teams placed in the state tournament this year. There was also a
second team from Red Pine, "ChocCoveredChaosInABox," that placed in the state competition.
