RECOMMENDED ACTION: Presentation of certificates of commendation
Our community commends and shares in the recognition of students who win state championships
through their high level of performance in competitions. Tonight the Council recognizes the
accomplishments of the Dakota United Adapted Softball team, which won first place in May at the "P P"
or physically impaired division of the state tournament.
Dakota United is a cooperative program that includes players from District 196 and other high schools in
Dakota County. The team had a record of eight wins and no losses daring the regular season. In the state
tournament held in Coon Rapids at the end of May, the Hawks defeated Minneapolis South in the
quarterfinals and Anoka Hennepin in the semifinal round. Rosemount High School student Dan Mauck
scored the winning RBI during the semi -final against Anoka to advance the team to the championship
game. The Hawks then defeated the defending champions from Robbinsdale /Hopkins /Mound Westonka
6 -4 in the championship game.
Expected to attend the Council meeting are Dan and his fellow captains, Thomas Bowlin and Nick
Habisch. They are joined by their coach, Dana Beck.
