collection and disposal services to City Parks and City Facilities for 2009 -2010 to Highland
Sanitation.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
ISSUE
The service contract with Nitti Sanitation for the collection of solid waste and recycling at City owned
facilities expires on December 31, 2008.
BACKGROUND
Proposals for the 2009 -2010 Refuse and Recycling Collection and Disposal Services were solicited and
received in November of this year. We received four cost proposals. The firm that supplied the lowest cost
proposal was Highland Sanitation. Their total monthly bid price is $1,811.72, approximately 2.7% lower
than the next lowest bid. A comparison of what each of the four responding haulers bid for each site is
attached.
SUMMARY
This is a request for Council to approve the award of the contract for the 2009 -2010 Refuse and Recycling
Collection and Disposal Services to the low bidder, Highland Sanitation.
