CITY COUNCIL
City Council Regular Meeting: May 20, 2008
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Jenna O'Rourke represents the community as the designated 2008 Miss Teen Rosemount. As part of her
activities with the Miss Teen International competition, she attempts to publicize a message of public
service. Ms. O'Rourke has chosen a theme of "Spreading love, hope, faith and strength to those with
cancer."
The Miss Teen International Pageant recognizes young women for their accomplishments in professional
and community stewardship, emphasizing the virtues of elegance, confidence, and intelligence. Sixty
percent of the competition is based on the content of the interview with the candidate and the strength of
her platform, demonstrating organizational skills and community commitment. Ms. O'Rourke says she is
honored to represent Rosemount and intends to do her best to use this title to promote the community
and the people who live here, and to assist our community with its civic and non -profit oriented projects
throughout her reign. Her choice of a theme was inspired by the battle of a classmate who was diagnosed
with cancer.
During the competition in St. Cloud, Ms. O'Rourke received the Community Spirit Award given to
candidates who have attracted the most sponsors. Ms. O'Rourke also receives a banner for her role.
