RESOLUTION 2008
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING MAYOR DROSTE SIGNING ON TO THE
U.S. CONFERENCE OF MAYORS CLIMATE PROTECTION AGREEMENT
WHEREAS, the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement was first introduced in
February 2005;
WHEREAS, signing the Climate Protection Agreement indicates that participating cities will strive
to meet or beat the Kyoto Protocol targets in their own communities, through a variety of initiatives;
WHEREAS, the Minnesota Legislature passed and Governor Pawlenty signed the strongest
renewable energy legislation in the nation in 2007;
WHEREAS, Dakota County has included sustainability as a key element in its comprehensive
planning efforts;
WHEREAS, the High Performance Partnerships (HiPP) initiative involving Dakota County and its
cities is evaluating collaborative opportunities for advancing green and sustainable principles;
WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota is studying future development of UMORE Park that is
consistent with best practices for sustainable design in energy and environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount has taken steps to reduce energy and resources in its
operations and facilities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Rosemount
hereby supports Mayor William H. Droste signing on to the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate
Protection Agreement
ADOPTED this 15th day of January, 2008 by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
