RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to Adopt a Resolution Awarding the Contract for the
Akron Utility Clearing, City Project #417.
ISSUE:
Award contract for the Akron Utility Clearing, City Project #417.
BACKGROUND:
In order for private utilities such as underground gas, telephone, and overhead electric along the Akron
Avenue corridor to relocate their facilities in advance of construction of sewer and watermain utilities as
part of the Akron Avenue Utility and Railroad Improvements project, City Project #417, it is necessary to
remove trees, shrubs, and brush from the project area. Contracting the clearing work necessary for utility
relocation separately from the larger utility project will allow for an earlier start by the private utilities for
their relocation operations.
Costs associated with the project will be funded by the Sewer Core Fund and the Water Core Fund.
SUMMARY:
Quotes for the referenced project have been received. Staff will have a tabulation of quotes and resolution
to present to Council at the meeting.

RESOLUTION 2008
A RESOLUTION AWARDING CONTRACT
FOR AKRON UTILITY CLEARING
CITY PROJECT NO. 417
WHEREAS, City Council hereby ratifies action of City Engineer to secure quotes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows:
1. The quote of Castle Rock Contracting Tree Service of Castle Rock, Minnesota in the
amount of $5,850.00, for the clearing and grubbing of trees, shrubs, and brush along Akron
Avenue shall be and hereby is accepted.
2. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said
bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of
Rosemount.
3. Award of the bid is contingent on the determination by the City Administrator that all
necessary rights -of -entry or easements by deed or dedication have been secured for
construction of the improvements.
ADOPTED this 15t day of April, 2008.

Akron Avenue Clearing Contract
Dear Mayor and Council Members:
Quotes were received for the above referenced project with a submission deadline of 4:30 p.m. on
Monday, April 14, 2008. A total of three quotes were received. The quotes were checked for
mathematical accuracy and ranged from $5,850.00 to $31,750.00. Please find enclosed the bid
tabulation indicating the low bidder as Castle Rock Contracting Tree Service, Castle Rock,
Minnesota, in the amount of $5,850.00.
We recommend that the City Council consider these quotes and award a contract to Castle Rock
Contracting Tree Service, based on the results of the quotes received.
