This year, teams from Rosemount are among the top achievers in Minnesota, and some of them are working to raise funds to compete in the global competition this month. Tonight we are honored to host one of the teams that will represent Rosemount to the world. The "Laugh Attacks" spelled "LAAph EtAAks" from Rosemount Middle School came in second in the state competition, which qualifies them to advance to the globals. In DI, participants work as a team for 8 to 12 weeks to create a unique solution to a Team Challenge, which can have a focus that is theatrical, structural, improvisational, scientific, or technical or a blend of several disciplines. Teams also learn and practice creative quick thinking skills for the "Instant Challenge" portion of the program. Destination ImagiNation is intended to help young people learn in a fun and supportive environment, and the valuable skills they acquire will be with them for a lifetime. Global Finals, to be held May 21S through 24 is a culmination of the creativity competition year. It brings team winners representing their state, their province, or their country to compete at the annual international creative problem solving tournament held at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. The members of the Rosemount Middle School "Laugh Attacks" team are: Karlie Drinen Aly Pascuzzi Alexa Hanson Lindsey Dohm Alec Dohm Addle Iverson Elise Randall The team is under the team management of parent Jennifer Drinen and her assistant Joan Rusco. We should also note that two other teams from Rosemount Middle School placed in the state competition: "Fleet of Disarray" came in sixth in its category and "Jazzberribowhama" was eighth in its group. There were also two winning teams from another school that serves Rosemount, Red Pine Elementary; some of those competitors may be able to attend a future Council meeting.
