RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to declare the listed items and authorize city staff to
sell as authorized by City Code and state statute or to dispose of those items that are not
able to be sold.
The Council is asked to declare the listed items as surplus property. This declaration will
authorize staff to sell those items that have value and those items that are found to not be
saleable to be disposed of appropriately.
These items are the result of the opening of the Dakota Communications Center and the
transition to the 800 MHz radio system. This is resulted in the radio equipment used with the
VHF system to become obsolete for the City's needs. A few handheld radios have been
provided to Park and Rec staff for their use; however, the remaining items are no longer
needed for the City's use.
Attempts will be made to sell the items either through the League of MN Cities website or
through private vendors. In other communities where VHF equipment has been replaced,
quotes on the old equipment have only been received from one reseller.
