BACKGROUND
Independent School District 196 is working in conjunction with other parties to possibly build a new
alternatine learning center (ALC).
ISSUE �
ISD 196 is evaluating several prospective sites. One of those sites is south of County Road 42 at
Chippendale Avenue. The site that is being considered is not appropria.tely zoned for such a use. ISD 196
and the properry owner have requested that staff apptoach Council to determuie if there is interest in
considering a rezoning to allow the ALC.
SUMMARY
Staff has not been provided more detailed information regarding the use of the facility or the type of
building that would be constructed to house the facility. Staff has informed ISD 196 that this discussion
may be deferred to a later meeting if infonnation is not availa.ble prior to the Julp 13 work session.
