BACKGROUND
This item is on the agenda to get City Council approval to purchase PC’s last replaced in 2012 for the
Police, Fire and Public Works departments. There is money in the 2017 Equipment CIP budget for these

Attached is a memo from Jayson Solberg, the IT Coordinator, listing reasons for the need to proceed with
the replacement of this equipment. Jayson is available to answer any questions you have prior to the
meeting and will be present at the meeting as well.
Attached is the quote sheet for the PC Workstations showing 2 quotes with the low quote being from

equipment to be replaced this year.

quote for the replacement/upgrade of PC Workstations for the Police, Fire and Public Works
departments.
MEMORANDUM
To: Jeff May, Finance Director
From: Jayson Solberg, IT Coordinator
Date: January, 30 2017
Subject: 2017 CIP Replacements for City Hall/Parks
Issue
The City of Rosemount Police, Fire and Public Works computers are end of life and no
longer under warranty. As a City we have decided to replace computers every 5 years.
Computer replacements
As a City we have decided to replace the desktop computers every 5 years. Our
current desktop computers in Police, Fire and Public Works are 5 years old and out of
warranty. Police computers seem to be the ones that are failing faster than the others.
It takes at least 5 minutes for the profiles to load in the morning. I have heard
complaints throughout the last year about general slowness in every computer. Parts
have failed on 3 computers in the last month costing the City of Rosemount additional
money and time as they are out of warranty. The City has the computers in the CIP
budget for 2017 to replace workstations for the Police, Fire and Public Works
departments.
