RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to authorize expenditure of park improvements funds
to improve Schwarz Pond Park for relocation of skate park.
ACTION:
,
ISSUE:
The Parks and Recreation Commission and staff are recommending the City Council spend
funds not identified in the 2004 park improvement budget. The proposed budget for the
project is $16,800. The funds would cover the cost to make site improvements to Schwarz
Pond Park allowing the skate park to be relocated there. The current park improvement fund
balance is approximately $776,790
BACKGROUND:
With the Leprechaun Days celebration' coming up at the end of July, staff have once again
been discussing moving the skate park equipment to a more permanent location. When the
discussions were first held about where to put the equipment, the decision was between
Central Park and Schwarz Pond Park. Central Park was chosen as a test site for the
equipment based on its location and the site was ready without any improvements. Because
we will soon be removing the equipment again from Central Park for Leprechaun Days, we
should discuss finding a permanent location for the skate park.
SUMMARY
The Parks and Recreation Commission and staff are recommending the City Council approve
spending $16,800 from the 2004 park improvement funds for site improvements to the
Schwarz Pond Park for relocation of the skate park.
