Bids for New Breathing Apparatus and Compressor SystemCITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: JANUARY 20, 2004 The Fire Department has itemized in its approved Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) the replacement of the breathing apparatus equipment. The Self - Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) units were purchased in 1991 with a 15 year life expectancy. The Fire Department would like to go to a higher pressure system at this time which requires replacement of all SCBA units. The budgeted estimate for this equipment is $132,000. Fire Department Captain Kevin Tucker and a task force have researched the various products available and considered what would best fit the City of Rosemount. Tucker and the task force have developed the attached specifications for two separate bids. One is for a 6000 PSI Air Compressor/Fill Station/Storage System and the other is for Self - Contained Breathing Apparatus. Staff recommends approval of the indicated expenditure with proper bid protocol follower, The time line process for purchase is as follows: ■ To City Council for approval Jan. 20, 2004 ■ Publish Ads for Bids Jan. 23, 2004 ■ Open Bids Feb. 24, 2004 ■ Award Contracts at City Council meeting Mar. 2, 2004 Staff requests that the City Council publish the Advertisement of Bids for a 6000 PSI Air Compressor/Fill Station/Storage System and Self - Contained Breathing Apparatus for January 23, 2004, and set the bid openings to be held on February 24, 2004 at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall.
