ISSUE
The CDA has notified staff that they are initiating the process of requalifying the County for
participation in the Entitlement CDBG Program for the period covering Federal Fiscal Years
2005 through 2007 (Program years 7/1/05 — 6/30/08). The County is seeking verification that
the City wishes to continue participating in the Program.
Last year, the City approved the 3 -year agreement relating to the CDBG program. Because it
took so long to have all attorneys agree on the wording, the agreement is already up for
renewal. The recently approved CDBG Cooperation Agreement runs through September 30,
2004. However, the agreement has an automatic extension, unless the City chooses to be
excluded from the Program.
Staff believes the current process is fair and reasonable for allocation of funds. While the
amount of funding available to the city has not grown dramatically, it has helped us in land
acquisition over time, primarily in the downtown area.
SUMMARY
Staff is requesting a motion from the Council in support of the City's continued participation in
the County's CDBG program.
