RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to accept a donation of five hundred Firearm
Safety Kits from Project Childsafe.

BACKGROUND
SUMMARY
The non - profit National Shooting Sports Foundation has received funding from a grant from
the U.S. Department of Justice and additional financing from the firearms and shooting sports
industry. Project ChildSafe is the program NSSF is utilizing to promote safe firearms
handling and storage practices. Through Project ChildSafe, Firearm Safety Kits are being
distributed across the nation through local law enforcement agencies. The Firearm Safety
Kits include firearm safety education materials and a gunlock.
Council is asked to accept the donation of the Firearm Safety Kits. These kits will be
available free to Rosemount residents on a first -come, first - served basis at the Police
Department. Kits may be picked up Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
