Community Facilities Task ForceCITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING: February 17, 2004 AGENDA ITEM: Community Facilities Task Force AGENDA SECTION: CONSENT AGENDA PREPARED BY: Dan Schultz, Parks and Recreation Director O ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY At the December Committee of the Whole meeting, the Council and staff discussed possibly forming a task force to investigate the need for additional recreational facilities that have been requested. Staff recommended forming a task force to help conduct a needs assessment for facilities. Possible facilities would include a senior center, arts center, youth center, aquatic center, and a second sheet of ice. An athletic complex would not be part of the assessment because the Parks and Recreation Commission recently finished a similar needs assessment process for athletic fields. Staff contacted the local high school and community organizations, published press releases, and sent information to those people who have shown an interest in serving on a City commission. Staff has received a sufficient number of applicants from at -large residents. Names have also been forwarded to staff by local groups who have requested additional facilities. Staff is recommending approval of the people listed below to serve on the Community Facilities Task Force: Forrest Krogh Rosemount Area Senior Heidi Grange - Member at Large Philip Harris - Student Mindy Andreason — Member at Large Meghan Cockerill - Student Tom Caravello - Member at Large Matt Kearney - RAHA Member Smokey Vitek — Member at Large Mike Winter - RAHA Member Mike Eliason' —P &R Commission Dana Brodt - Member at Large Phil Sterner - P &R Commission Tim Wynne Member at Large RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the thirteen names listed above to serve on the Community Facilities Task Force.
