ACTION:
At this time, Mn /DOT has not provided all final comments for the project and therefore
is not able to sign off on the final plans. Until the time that Mn /DOT signs off on the
final plans, the City is unable to receive the bids for the project without jeopardizing the
Mn /DOT funding participation. Staff has been establishing project timelines based on
input from Mn /DOT but due to Mn /DOT work schedules, Mn /DOT has not been able to
meet the project timelines indicated to Staff.
As a result of this, the bid opening for the project has been delayed. A new bid opening
time will be scheduled once Mn /DOT provides final project comments and signs off on
the final plans. The continued delays of the project on the part of Mn /DOT will impact
the completion schedule for the project.
Staff is recommending that the proposed construction schedule for the project be
revised to specify the complete installation of the signal system on Connemara Trail at
Trunk Highway 3 be in 2004. This should be feasible as there is no roadway work
associated with this intersection. For the other intersections that include roadway work,
the project schedule will require completion of all work in the early summer of 2005.
Chuck Rickart with WSB & Associates, Inc. will be in attendance at the meeting to
update Council and address questions that you may have.
