EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION
CITY COUNCIL MEETING: March 1, 2004.
The City recently received a $3,600 donation from the SKB Trust Fund to write a Natural Area
Management Plan for the Wiklund Property in Rosemount. As you know, the City is working with
Dakota County and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to preserve the Wiklund
Property. Part of the grant provision with the DNR Metro Greenways is to provide a Natural Area
Management Plan for the property being preserved. The Friends of the Mississippi (FMR) wrote and
submitted the original Metro Greenway Grant for the Wiklund property with a resolution of support
from the City.
Staff is recommending that the City contract with the Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) for $3,600
to write the Natural Resource Management Plan for the Wiklund property.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the contract for $3,600 with the Friends of the
Mississippi River to write the Natural Area Management Plan for the Wiklund property.
