ACTION:
ISSUE
The City Council has previously adopted the 10 -year Capital Improvements Plan (Cl P) which
includes the planned construction of Fire Station #2 on land acquired by the City that is north
of Connemara Trail and just west of the Centex Minea development. In addition to the
second fire station, staff previously shared with Council that we are analyzing the need to
expand the Public Works facility on Brazil Avenue. Finally, staff shared with Council during
the most recent KFS meeting a desire to address space needs in City Hall through potential
expansion.
Fire Chief Scott Aker will be present to share information from preliminary planning work
being conducted by a committee,of the volunteer fire department.
City Engineer Andy Brotzler and Public Works Superintendent Rick Cook will be present to
discuss the needs assessment that has been done relative to the Public Works facility.
Following the discussion, we would like to walk to the Public Works facility to give Council an
opportunity to see the building and ask questions. Staff would also like to discuss the
expansion of City Hall.
SUMMARY
The intent of the discussion this evening is to share with Council the preliminary work that
has been done on the needs assessment and to clarify what additional information is required
so that staff will have direction toward implementation of any or all projects. Also, staff will
bring forth some timelines and milestones related to the project(s) including decision points
for Council and opportunities for public involvement.
