This is a request for the City Council to approve the hiring of fourteen new firefighters to the Rosemount Fire
Department. This unusually large class of recruits came as the result of an intensive recruitment process
conducted last fall. With the hiring of these 14 recruits, the Fire Department is back to its full staffing capacity
for the first time in years. Due to this unusual class size, the recruits were asked to attend this meeting to meet
the incoming City Council.
The names of candidates being recommended are:

• Shawn Hill
• Tom Strese
• Michael Cordes
• Brad Miller
•' Bruce Sword
• Jacob Ganfield
• Dale Olson
Nathan Toso
• Chad Ganfield
• Jacob Rylander
Greg Zeno
• Kerry Hiben
• Robert Sciamanda
The candidates have all completed a background check and are currently in the process of completing their
medical exams.
Pending Council approval and successful completion of the other conditions of hire, the fourteen are tentatively
scheduled to start work on January 8, 2003.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE HIRE OF PHILLIP BOEHNE, MICHAEL
CORDES, JACOB GANFIELD, CHAD GARFIELD, KERRY HIBEN, SHAWN HILL, BRAD MILLER,
DALE OLSON, JACOB RYLANDER, ROBERT SCIAMANDA, TOM STRESE, BRUCE SWORD,
NATHAN TOSO, AND GREG ZENO TO THE POSITION OF FIREFIGHTER.
