Designation of Official Newspaper.« CITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: JANUARY 7, 2003 AGENDA ITEM: DESIGNATION OF OFFICIAL NEWSPAPER AGENDA SECTION: CONSENT PREPARED BY: LINDA JENTINK, CITY CLERK AGE ° A ;. ATTACHMENTS: BIDS i APPROVED BY: ) It is necessary for the City Council to designate an official newspaper for the City of Rosemount. The official newspaper will publish all required legal documents and notices for the City. Bids were received from the three local papers: Sun Newspapers, Thisweek Newspapers, and the Rosemount Town Pages. Currently the Rosemount Town Pages is the official newspaper. They have e -mail service to receive public notices which is very convenient for all departments. The Rosemount Town Pages has added color occasionally to their front page and the format was improved this year. The paid circulation is up to 1,425 for the Rosemount Town Pages. The Town Pages bid is the lowest and allows for a discount for camera ready notices. It is my recommendation to continue using the Rosemount Town Pages as the city's official newspaper. If in the future, council weighs the readership as a higher priority than cost, the designated newspaper can be changed any time during the year.
