Based on this speed study and the attached MnDOT authorization, the speed limits shown on the authorization are to be put into effect. Staff is recommending Council approval of the speed limits for Chippendale Avenue for the attached MnDOT authorization dated May 9, 2003. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING THE SPEED LIMIT ON CHIPPENDALE AVENUE PER MnDOT' S SPEED LIMIT AUTHORIZATION DATED MAY 9, 2003. COUNCIL ACTION: 19 CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2003 - A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING SPEED LIMITS ALONG CHIPPENDALE AVENUE PER MnDOT'S SPEED LIMIT AUTHORIZATION DATED MAY 9, 2003 WHEREAS, State law authorizes only the Commissioner of Transportation to set speed limits along public streets and highways that don't fall under the "Urban District" classification as defined in M.S.L. 169.01, Subdivision 59; and WHEREAS, The Minnesota Department of Transportation has conducted a speed study and its results are known. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota: The speed limit on Chippendale Avenue shall be as follows: NORTHBOUND 40 miles per hour between the intersection with County State Aid Highway 46 (160 Street West) and the intersection with County State Aid Highway 42 (150 Street West) 35 miles per hour between the intersection with County State Aid Highway 42 (150 Street West) and the intersection with 145 Street West SOUTHBOUND 35 miles per hour between the intersection with 145 Street West and the intersection with 151 Street West 40 miles per hour between the intersection with 151 Street West and the intersection with County State Aid Highway 46 (160 Street West) ADOPTED this 3rd day of June, 2003. Please keep this authorization in your permanent files; we have our necessary copies. Erection of signs shall be in conformance with the current Minnesota Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
