MEMORANDUM

FROM: Jamie Verbrugge, City Administrator
RE: Recommendation for Hiring HR/Communications Coordinator
For City Council consideration is a recommendation to hire Dawn Weitzel for
HR/Communications Coordinator. Most recently, Dawn held the position of Human
Resources Manager at the City of Richfield from 1999 to February 2003. Prior to holding that
position, she was the Communication Specialist with Richfield for three years. Since
February, she has been running her own local government consulting firm. In addition, Dawn
has worked for the City of Mounds View and the City of St. Louis Park. Dawn has a Master
of Arts in Public Administration from Hamlin University and Bachelor's degree from
University of Wisconsin — Eau Claire.
Pending approval of the appointment by the City Council, Dawn is scheduled to start in her
position on September 29, 2003.
