There are two items of additional information for the October 21 regular City Council agenda:

Item 5.b — Proclamation of Minnesota Manufacturing Week
October 20 -24 has been designated Minnesota Manufacturing Week by the Minnesota
Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). Manufacturing Week
is an annual recognition of an important segment of the State's economic community.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Item 6.h — Approve Contract for Engineering Services
The City Council discussed the proposed extension of contract with WSB for engineering
services at the October 15 Committee of the Whole meeting. Council expressed some
interest in revisiting the proposed retainer of $30,000 per year before consideration of the
item at the October 21 meeting. Attached is a revised contract for consideration.
Staff has proposed restructuring the retainer to pay $15,000 in 2004, $30,000 in 2005, and
$45,000 in 2006. The retainer in 2006 would only increase to $45,000 if levy limits are
not imposed by the Legislature for FY 2006. Should levy limits still be in place, the
retainer in 2006 would remain at $30,000. The proposed restructuring of the retainer is to
recognize and reduce the financial constraints on the City as part of the 2004 budget.
