MINNESOTA MANUFACTURING WEEK
WHEREAS, The manufacturing industries is a dynamic part of Minnesota's
prosperous economy, and promotion of this sector's strength, success, and high
quality of life is an integral part of Minnesota's economic development strategy;
and
WHEREAS, Manufacturing provides high skill, high wage jobs which
significantly contribute to Minnesota's high standard of living and economic
vitality and provides approximately 1500 jobs within the City of Rosemount; and
WHEREAS, Manufacturing has the largest total payroll of any business sector
in Minnesota, providing $16 billion in 2001 wages; and
WHEREAS, Manufacturing produces $29.8 billion for the state economy and is
the third larges share, 15. 9 %, of our gross state product; and
WHEREAS, Manufactured exports brought over $9.5 billion into the Minnesota
economy in 2002; and
WHEREAS, Manufacturing contributed over $204 million in corporate income
taxes in Minnesota, more than any other business sector, and about 28% of btal
corporate income taxes in 2001.
THEREFORE, the City Council and Mayor of the City of Rosemount does
hereby proclaim the week of October 20 —October 24, 2003 to be Minnesota
Manufacturers Week.
