The trail corridor will connect city trails to the future Mississippi Bike Trail and hiking trails planned for Spring Lake Park. Proiect Tasks Friends of the Mississippi River (FMR) proposes to lead the effort to coordinate the development of concept -level plans for an interpretive corridor in Rosemount that extends from downtown to the Mississippi River. FMR will contract with the landscape architect and urban design firm Hoisington Koegler Group, inc. (HKGi) to work with key project stakeholders to develop conceptual designs for the interpretive corridor, accompanying graphics and preliminary implementation cost estimates. • For the full corridor, we will develop a schematic plan that identifies the varying "situations" or character zones experienced through the corridor. The character zones could vary from a fairly narrow street/trail corridor to a bridge underpass to an expansive ecological greenway corridor. The character zones will be graphically and pictorially depicted on the schematic plan. • For each situation or character zone identified along the interpretive corridor, we will develop a package of design vignettes. Each package of vignettes will be used to illustrate how the design of a character zone can become "interpretive infrastructure" that addresses a host of community values and needs rather than just the practical need of movement. Additionally, FMR staff will do the following: • Contact and/or meet with landowners in the proposed corridor to discuss the trail project and greenway implementation opportunities. • Organize a kick-off meeting and corridor tour with key stakeholders and local landowners. • Assemble cultural and ecological data for interpretive concept development. • Prepare a summary of restoration opportunities and recommendations within the corridor. • Organize a concept review work session with key stakeholders and local landowners. • Organize and publicize a community open house. • Review, edit and finalize all materials. • Present final plan to City for approval. Proiect Deliverables The following items will be presented to the City at the completion of the project: • Schematic plan identifying corridor location and sq ggested character zones within the corridor • "Packages" of drawings /notes/budget parameters depicting up to 5 character zones • Digital versions of all materials prepared • Large - format boards as needed for meeting and open house presentations • Summary of all landowner outreach activities and the results • Summary of restoration opportunities and recommendations within the corridor Note: Large - format boards of final product is an additional service Proiect Budget The cost for this project and all of its deliverables is estimated at $26,365. Please see attached budget and timeline for details.
