Accept Employee Resignation and Hiring Process for Maintenance WorkersCITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: MAY 6, 2003 AGENDA ITEM: ACCEPT EMPLOYEE RESIGNATION and AGENDA SECTION: HIRING OF MAINTENANCE WORKERS CONSENT PREPARED BY: PAULA GRAFF, AGEND HUMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR � I, 6 F ATTACHMENTS: NONE APPROVED BY: Y� Dave Weierke, Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department has submitted his resignation effective May 2, 2003. Staff requests that Council accept Dave's resignation and authorize his replacement. The resignation is timely in the sense that the City was already in the process of taking applications for the position of Maintenance Worker. Staff thereby is seeking Council approval to fill two Maintenance Worker positions rather than just one. Therefore, for City Council consideration is a recommendation to hire Ryan Rausch and John Cusack for the position of Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. The City received approximately 126 applications for the position. Five candidates were interviewed. Ryan is currently employed the City of Northfield in its Parks Department and also works for the City of Eagan as a Parks Laborer. John was a foreman for Xcel Energy for eleven years and has additional experience in operating all types of excavating equipment. Pending Council approval it is anticipated that John will start May 7, 2003 and that Ryan will start May 12, 2003. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF DAVE WEIERKE FROM THE POSITION OF MAINTENANCE WORKER AND APPROVE THE HIRING OF RYAN RAUSCH AND JOHN CUSACK TO THE POSITION OF MAINTENANCE WORKER. COUNCIL ACTION:
