Dave Weierke, Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department has submitted his resignation effective
May 2, 2003. Staff requests that Council accept Dave's resignation and authorize his replacement. The
resignation is timely in the sense that the City was already in the process of taking applications for the position
of Maintenance Worker. Staff thereby is seeking Council approval to fill two Maintenance Worker positions
rather than just one.
Therefore, for City Council consideration is a recommendation to hire Ryan Rausch and John Cusack for the
position of Maintenance Worker in the Public Works Department. The City received approximately 126
applications for the position. Five candidates were interviewed.
Ryan is currently employed the City of Northfield in its Parks Department and also works for the City of Eagan
as a Parks Laborer. John was a foreman for Xcel Energy for eleven years and has additional experience in
operating all types of excavating equipment. Pending Council approval it is anticipated that John will start May
7, 2003 and that Ryan will start May 12, 2003.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF DAVE WEIERKE
FROM THE POSITION OF MAINTENANCE WORKER AND APPROVE THE HIRING OF RYAN
RAUSCH AND JOHN CUSACK TO THE POSITION OF MAINTENANCE WORKER.
