Council could allow firearms hunting on the large parcels with restrictions. Limiting the type of firearms and
ammunition will reduce the likelihood of any impact, other than the noise of firearms, on the surrounding
properties. An attached map shows a 500 foot buffer around the homes adjoining the effected properties; this is
the distance hunting must occur from residences according to state law. As long as hunters use the required
type of shotgun shot and follow state law, there should not be any hazard created by allowing hunting on the
these large parcels.
One landowner has also requested that deer hunting be allowed with shotgun slugs. Information concerning this
request and the implications will be shared at the meeting.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Discussion item.
